Mischievous, kind-hearted and an all-round fun loving keen fisherman: these are the words used to describe Ashley Johnson by those closest to him.

In 2003 Ashley was the recipient of a liver transplant at Austin Health. He spent many months in the care of our staff and was in awe of how hard the clinical team, nurses and counsellors worked for the benefit of their patients.

Ashley never took for granted how fortunate he was to receive a transplant, and to show his gratitude he made a final gift in his will of more than $300,000 to support our Liver Transplant Unit.

We are truly grateful to Ashley, and thankful his family and friends will see the profound impact of his gift, supporting research scholarships and patients undergoing treatment.
